The production of The Glass Menagerie at Ford's Theatre is superb. At the Super Bowl Sunday matinee it got a well-deserved standing ovation. Strong performances by all four actors, including Madeleine Potter as Amanda. Unobtrusive, effective staging. Very interesting to see after our discussions of Williams. The play runs through February 21.
The program advertises two other local Williams productions this spring:
Cat on a Hot Tin Roof at Round House Theatre, March 30-April 24
A Streetcar Named Desire at Everyman Theatre (Baltimore), April 13-June 12.
BookMen DC is an informal group of men who are interested in gay literature (both fiction and non-fiction). Most of us live in or near Washington, D.C., but a few members bring a breath of fresh air to our meetings from outside the Beltway, and visitors to DC are always welcome to drop in and join the discussion.
The group gets together on the first and third Wednesdays of each month for meetings lasting about an hour. On first Wednesdays, we meet at 6:30 p.m. at the Cleveland Park Library at 3310 Connecticut Ave. NW, two blocks from the Cleveland Park Metro station on the Red Line. On third Wednesdays, we meet at 7 p.m. via Zoom.
